Our Highlights at BMMSH:
Coronary Heart Disease – It is caused by the accumulation of plaque within the walls of the arteries that supply the myocardium. Angina pectoris/chest pain is a symptom of coronary heart disease.
Rheumatic Heart Disease – It is a complication of rheumatic fever, which is more common in people in the age group of 5-15. The symptoms develop over a period of time and can progress to serious heart damage that can kill or cripple adolescents and young adults
Heart Muscle Disease –referred to as Cardio Myopathy, it is caused when damaged heart muscles cause enlargement of heart. The heart’s ability to pump blood decreases causing backflow into the lungs and other parts of the body. Cardio Myopathy may be of three types:
- Hypertrophic Cardio Myopathy
- Dilated Cardio Myopathy
- Restrictive Cardio Myopathy
- Pericardial Effusion
- Constructive Pericarditis
