Ophthalmology
Ophthalmology Department of BMMSH started with general Ophthalmology, it has expanded its wings and has added different subspecialties which are: Cataract, Glaucoma, Vitreo-retinal surgery, ROP Surgery, Cornea Transplantation, Oculoplasty, Retinoblastoma apart from Low vision clinic.
Being in-house in a Super specialty Hospital (with ICU) complex, we are the best choice for the state to handle, Mucor mycosis, blast injury, RTA, even Cataract in complicated cardiac/dialysis patient.
The CORT (Centre for Ophthalmic Research and Training) was inaugurated by Honorable Governor on 21st June 2018 for imparting training to underprivileged students of skill development program, optometrists and ophthalmologists.

Skill Development Program
Skill Development Program is an initiative by the CSR of Bhagwan Mahavir Medica Super Specialty Hospital, Ranchi, Jharkhand.
The program aims to train aspiring candidates of poor socio-economic background to work hand in gloves with the healthcare fraternity and provide equitable staff distribution at major sectors such as Ophthalmology.
The candidates are trained at various clinical disciplines such as Patient counselling, technician, OT assistant, Nursing care, Healthcare co-ordinator etc.
The candidates are also trained on various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities such as Computer handling, Spoken English, Soft skills training, personality building etc. which are also a must requirement for better patient care and management.
The vision of the program is to uphold education and skill development in underprivileged talented students of the community and utilize their trainings and skills in minimizing the unequitable distribution of healthcare professionals in developing states of the country.
The candidates will have the training and expertise that places them in an optimal position to provide and assist wholesome healthcare to the patient, including OT assistance, patient counselling, healthcare co-ordination and administration etc.
Total duration of the program: 1-year in-house training program.
Batch size: 5 candidates/batch
Admission: Two batches/Year
Process of admission: 1 round of written examination+2 rounds of interview.
Fee structure: No fees.
Under Centre for Ophthalmic Research and Training CORT inaugurated by honorable Governor, we are doing SDP, internship/ fellowship in Optometry and surgical training of Ophthalmologists.
