Mr. Mahto is Getting Life Back after the Renal Transplant

Mr. Bhandu Mahto, 48 yr male resident of Maganpur, Gola, Ramgarh, was suffering from Chronic kidney disease. Due to Bilateral ureteric & renal calculus diseases leading to B/L huge pelvicalyceal system dilation with thinned out renal parenchyma, he was put on maintenance haemodialysis programme twice a week. Two years ago when he came to the hospital he was suffering from Urosepsis & advanced Uraemia. His metabolic profile for renal calculus disease was normal and he had several episodes of urosepsis while he was on haemodialysis. His family then thought that transplant was the best option for him although during the pre-transplant period he was suffering from severe malnutrition.

He then underwent bilateral nephrectomy by single midline incision through transperitoneal approach by Urology team and had no post- operative complications. Mr. Mahto was discharged from hospital on the 8th post-operative day.

Six Weeks later, a successful renal transplant was done and his wife was the donor. The post-transplant period was uneventful and now three months after the transplant, his renal profile is normal and Mr. Mahto is slowly getting back to his normal life.
